SS17 STYLE NOTES
Drawing inspiration from the 1950s Jazz scene, the Spring/Summer ’17 Tailored Casual collection features stylistic references which have become synonymous with the ‘Blue Note’ jazz record label. The images taken by photographer and Producer Frances Wolff were mainstays on the mood boards in the Design Studio, and led to the introduction of new cloths and styles. A key new piece for the season is the Pop Over Shirt, as worn by the legendary Miles Davis. In-keeping with the laid back yet sophisticated aesthetic from this time, the collection includes beautifully tailored pieces with a softer edge.
As always, the cut of the garments has been carefully considered and executed, resulting in a collection of unstructured tailoring, casual shirting and knitwear in a cross section of seasonal cloths. Standout pieces include the Navy Prince of Wales Seersucker Double Breasted Jacket and Pleated Pants; the crisp cotton seersucker is a modern turn on a classic cloth design frequently used in our Bespoke House. The Pop Over Shirt, both long and short sleeved, are everyday casual wardrobe staples; all Tailored Casual shirts for the season have been crafted in small batches in a small factory in Japan, using locally sourced cloths.
