Ready-to-wear Summer 2011

“In the depths of winter, I finally learned that within me there lay an invincible summer.”

Albert Camus said that, but, had he had access to these exemplars of Timothy Everest ready-to-wear savoir faire, he would have felt invincible without as well as within. Bask in these three seasonal ensembles (with a jug of Pimm's in tailored sleeve's reach); they're enough to brighten up anyone's existentialism...

The deep cobalt double-breasted suit, above, is the Platonic ideal of blue, alongside lapis lazuli jewels and David Hockney pools. The mother of pearl buttons, magenta lining and high-waisted trousers add polish, iridescence, and a gravitas that's not at all Cowell-esque. Reflect the season's fecundity by teaming it with a floral Liberty print shirt, and honour the sun (which will hopefully be making at least intermittent appearances) with yellow Sea Island cotton socks.

Think pink with this dusty pink single-breasted suit, again with mother of pearl buttons and magenta lining, and parallel leg trousers. Try it with a naïve floral Liberty print shirt and Spitalfields flower tie for the full Britain In Bloom effect, and top (toe?) off with sky blue Sea Island cotton socks.

And with royal wedding mania still ringing in our ears, the Prince of Wales check never looked more resplendent – especially with added dusty pink overcheck. This jacket will fizz like Prosecco if you set it off with a bright magenta shirt, navy skinny tie and lilac Sea Island cotton socks. Complete with crisp jeans and the season's most buoyant canvas plimmies for That Riviera Touch (which also happens to be my favourite Morecambe & Wise movie).
