The Hairline Stripe Suit

Spring Summer 2021

The stripe as a detail in men’s clothing comes with a certain amount of baggage.

In suiting, the pinstripe will always evoke a formal caché thanks to its inalienable link with the uniform of the banker and the industrialist. At the other end of the sartorial scale however, the Hickory Stripe is the tried and tested preserve of the working man, its detailing denoting a toughness and durability; qualities expected both of the cloth and the man donning it.

For the summer suiting in our SS21 ‘Hidden Treasures’ ready-to-wear collection we have selected a cloth that toys with both ideas, solidifying our playful approach to formality and informality throughout the whole range.

The light brown Hairline Stripe cloth we have used comes from renowned English mill Fox Brothers. It is 2 ply ‘Tropical’ weight worsted wool with a ‘high twist’ giving it both breathability and a crease-resistant springy handle. The caramel brown base is shot through with a subtle complimentary stripe of off-white for a delightfully versatile result.

The unstructured and unlined Blazer features a 3/2 Roll button stance, centre vent, three patch pockets and is designed by our bespoke team to be worn either as a stand alone piece or in conjunction with the matching Pleated Trousers with double forward pleats, side adjusters and tapered fit.
