Denim can be a tricky friend. While hardwearing and aesthetically pleasing as a material, its tightly woven construction can make it a little unsuitable for summer, yet its absence leaves a large hole in a chap’s wardrobe.
In wanting to keep the look but create something a little more suitable for the warmer months, this season we have used a linen and cotton indigo mix from the Italian cloth maestros Loro Piana for our Work Jacket and Single Pleat Trouser. While the majority component linen gives a soft and light breathable base, the premium quality cotton adds a luxurious lustre to the mix. Finally a pinch of elastane adds comfort and flex to the finished fabric, creating the perfect blend of style and practicality.
Made here in England, the unlined Work Jacket takes its nod from the classic French Bleu De Travail with three patch pockets, buttoning cuff and ‘shacket’ construction, while the matching trousers feature a single pleat, belt loops and a gently tapered fit.
This unique material has allowed us to create two design staples that can be worn throughout the impending summer.
