A Postcard From…

Stockholm

With lockdown still with us, and a little extra time on our hands, we’ve been taking the opportunity to catch up with some of our clients from around the world and indulge in a little ‘virtual’ travel at the same time.

First up, we dropped a line to musician and vintage watcher dealer Axel Jansson to find out what he’s been up to in Stockholm.

What is it in your opinion that makes your city so special?

It’s a combination of things, but first and foremost it’s a city with a very high standard of living. We have a modern and opened minded
population that in general have great sense of style and quality. Geographically speaking we’re in quite a harsh and challenging location
that puts pressure on us for about 6 months a year. This has also forced us to be creative and innovative. We’ve learned the importance of always having a warm and social ambience around us, even when the day only provides us with a few hours of sunlight in winter. It’s a city that takes different shapes with the seasons. Stockholm is a dramatic but beautiful city with a great food scene, nice shops and a warm social culture. This is a great recipe for a a place to call home.

Favourite restaurant in your hometown?

Stockholm has a booming food scene, But If I had to pick one it would be Cafe Nizza on Södermalm for sure. A modern Italian with a French twist. Fantastic food and great wine. Also one of the best restaurant settings I can think of. Relaxed but with an elegant undertone, very tasteful!

Schmaltz on Östermalm. It’s the kind of place you come to finish off your work week with a Dry Martini on a Friday afternoon. Three hours later you find yourself sharing great wine and small plates with your friends. Great place for people spotting as well.

Favourite open space / outdoor destination?

I live on Södermalm and I love taking a Sunday stroll from Södermalm to Gamla Stan over to Östermalm if the weather lets you. It makes you appreciate how beautiful and unique the city is.

What’s the first thing you plan to do as soon as the current restrictions are lifted?

Get married in the south of France wearing a Timothy Everest Bespoke Tuxedo. This is the second time we had to push the wedding, but I think it will be worth the wait.

What attracted you to working with Timothy Everest on your bespoke and ready-to-wear wardrobe?

To me Timothy Everest ticks all the boxes. Over the years I’ve built my wardrobe with both ready-to-wear, MTM and Bespoke. I love the team and are proud to call them my friends. They’re all super educated in their own crafts, all with different personalities. Together they’ve helped me build staple pieces in my wardrobe that I will love and wear forever. These are pieces I combine with seasonal wear to adapt for different occasions. Great fit and fabrics that will stand the test of time.
